Cliff Notes from Wine Country: Our Blog

About us…

We are a family-owned winery, set in the scenic and stunningly beautiful Columbia River Gorge. Our history here goes back to the mid-80′s and we are one of the very first wineries in the Gorge. We specialize in and craft red wines focused on the Piedmont varietals Barbera, Dolcetto, and Nebbiolo – all grown and produced from our estate vineyard. Our philosophy is simple: a profound respect and honor for our natural surroundings will produce equally profound wines. Minimal “sculpting” of our fruit after harvest is our preference, as this is a more honest expression of our vineyard’s terroir.

We believe in supporting – and are grateful for the support of – local community members. And it’s our pleasure to share our wines with all, as this is the true joy of food and wine. Grab a seat- there’s always room for one more at our table…

Cheers!

  1. Where’s Bob and what is he up to? Can you ship to Montana? We don’t have a Fred Meyers here.

    Thanks,
    Karyn

    • Hi Karyn,

Bob’s alive and well! He says hi, but was afraid to get on the computer and type himself- chicken…

Although we can’t ship directly to consumers in Montana, we do have a liquor license for this state. Which means we can ship to a wine shop there- and then you can pick it up there. If you tell us what shop you’d like to work with, we can get some win there for you.

      Hope this helps!

We could not make it to the Valentine’s bash :( , but are thinking of making a trip in April 7,8,9 OR 10th 2010. Is there anything special going on those days? We will come by regardless, but wanted to make sure we didn’t miss anything! (We are planning on only one day trip) Thanks!

    • Hi Heather,

We’ll be having our Spring “bud burst” party on Sat. April 10th. Come on by and we’ll walk you through the vineyard and show you what’s happening with the vines. And then we’ll taste wine… lots.

      Cheers!

  4. Vicki Walker and David Komer

Hey Jared: It is finally nice to catch up with you. It’s been over a year. I actually went into Zupans to find out where you are. I hadn’t seen you for a long time and we stopped getting your emails about special events.

The other night Dave and I were drinking a great bottle from Owen Roe and Dave asked if I had heard from you. I said no but set my mind on finding out where and what you were up to.

I understand congratulations are in order. You finally got out of the retail rat race and it appears you are having fun and working at something you are, no doubt, good at and have a passion for.

Dave and I will look forward to visiting Cascade Cliffs. I will email you first so as to be sure you are working that day.

Good luck and I look forward to reconnecting. Vicki

Jared and Bob, what a wonderful Friday….exquisite morsels of the most delicious flavors and the wines…are there even words for the best Barbera in the world? The Symphony and the Nebbiolo were superb. The company perfect. The wind, the sun, the conversation amazing. Can’t wait to come back. Many, many thanks for treating us so joyfully! See you soon…Stacey
